Craft & Evidence: Who Makes Your Clothes?
MIMIRS SAUM is my personal journey through history and craft.
My name is Patrycja—I research, design, and sew every piece by hand, drawing inspiration from real people and real discoveries across the early medieval world.
With a lifelong fascination for archaeology and the cultures of the Viking Age, Slavic lands, Frankish kingdoms, and beyond, I bring together academic study with hands-on experience as a reenactor. My process starts at the source: archaeological finds, museum exhibits, and scholarly works.
From there, I create patterns, select period-correct fabrics—100% linen, wool, or silk—and sew each garment using only traditional, hand-worked methods. I believe the clothes we wear can bring history closer: each seam, each hem, and each decision is informed by evidence and respect for the people who once lived in these fashions.
In my workshop, research and creativity meet. The result? Well-documented, comfortable, and beautiful garments that allow you to participate in history—on your terms, with no detail overlooked.
